What I offer

Engagements range from a single training day to a longer piece of work embedded with a team. Each one starts with what the service actually needs, not a fixed package.

MAPA and TIMIAN training for ward and community teams

As a certified instructor in both programmes I deliver accredited training in the management of actual or potential aggression, tailored to the realities of your unit — the patient group, the layout, the incidents you are actually seeing. The aim is always confident, early de-escalation and fewer restrictive interventions.

Care planning and risk assessment

Admission assessments, personalised care plans, risk and crisis plans within the CPA framework, and discharge arrangements that hold up once the patient leaves.

Eating disorder and feeding support

Specialist nursing experience with eating disorders, including NG tube and PEG feeding and the management of therapeutic mealtimes in inpatient settings.

Ward leadership and team development

Shift leadership, supervision of junior staff, incident reviews, internal audits and reflective practice — helping ward teams run safely and consistently.

Community mental health practice

Initial assessments, key working and caseload management, duty work, MDT liaison and coordination with GPs, social care and third-sector partners.

Safeguarding and Mental Health Act practice

Escalating and managing safeguarding concerns, working with advocacy services, and applying Mental Health Act procedures correctly on the ward.

Learning disability, housing and social care

Support planning and community integration for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, informed by a decade in housing and tenancy support.

Nearly twenty years in mental health, learning disability and housing services, spanning inpatient wards, community teams and local government.

  1. Registered Mental Health Nurse

    Ellern Mede (now Queensway)

    Person-centred, evidence-based care for patients with complex mental health needs including eating disorders; feeding support and therapeutic mealtimes; care planning through to discharge; delivery of MAPA and TIMIAN training to the team.

  2. Community Mental Health Practitioner

    East Glade CMHT, Sheffield

    Community-based support for adults with complex presentations: assessments, care plans, key working, CPA reviews, medication management, crisis interventions and safeguarding, working closely with social care, GPs and third-sector agencies.

  3. Registered Mental Health Nurse

    Cygnet Hospital, Sheffield

    Named Nurse for a caseload of service users with complex and enduring conditions. Led nursing shifts, supervised junior staff, administered oral and depot medication, responded to acute crises using trauma-informed de-escalation, and contributed to audits, incident reviews and initiatives to reduce restrictive intervention.

  4. Registered Mental Health Nurse

    Willobeck Nursing Home

    Nursing care for residents with dual diagnoses and complex physical needs; medication compliance and team briefings.

  5. Support Coordinator

    KeyRing Living Support Services

    Oversaw the Sheffield support network for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs; developed support plans, community integration strategies and staff training.

  6. Housing Officer

    Sheffield City Council

    Housing advice, tenancy management and coordinated support for vulnerable tenants; anti-social behaviour intervention and multi-agency safeguarding.
